‘ Traigh Bhan ’(pronounced Tri Van).
The beach of Traigh Bhan is known locally as the ‘Singing Sands’.
For Traigh Bhan Batch 5, careful variations in cask selection have led to a captivating evolution of the flavour profile. Matured in classic Ardbeg ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks, this whisky ventures into sweeter, more tropical waters. Notes of fresh green peppers, smoked mango and guava mingle with maple bacon on the nose. A deep smokiness gives way to toasted tonka beans and white pepper, with waves of aniseed, burnt heather and spiced chive. A satisfyingly long finish brings with it notes of warm toffee fudge and smoked butter.
From the Ardbeg Distillery to Port Ellen and beyond, follow the rocky coast and you will discover the heavenly vista of Traigh Bhan, the beautiful beach known locally as the Singing Sands. This captivating place has white soft sands that sing beneath your feet, a hum that ebbs and flows with the winds and the tides. But beguiling as this place is, do not drop your guard. Bathing is ill advised in the seemingly tame crystal waters where jagged, volcanic rocks piece the sands along the shore, and plenty of this you will see on the packaging itself.
